पत्ते पर बैठी जल की एक बूंद नीचे बहती नदी के जल को देख रही थी। हहर-हहर करता जल वेग से आगे बढता जा रहा था। उछलती तरंगों से निकलती अनेक बूंदे खेलती हंसती नाचती पुन: नदी के जल में विलीन हो जाती। पत्ते पर बैठी बूंद उदास थी, " ओह, मैं कितनी अकेली हूं ... कोई मेरे साथ खेलता नहीं .... मेरी सुघ नहीं लेता। " हवा ने उसका रोना सुना। उस पर तरस आया। उसने पत्ते के हिला दिया कि बूंद फिलसकर नदी में जा मिले। बूंद अकर्मण्य थी। वह कसकर पत्ते से चिपक गई, " मुझे गिरने से डर लगता है। वैसे भी नदी के जल में मिलकर अपना अस्तित्व खो बैठूंगी। " नदी जल की बूंद आगे बढ हुई सागर में विलीन होकर शाश्वत में मिल गई। पत्ते पर की बूंद वहीं बैठी-बैठी सूखकर समाप्त हो गई। बूंद की सबसे बडी भूल थी कि वह स्वयं को अपने जन्मदाता जल से अलग मान बैठी। वह भूल गई कि उसका अस्तित्व जल से है। दूसरी भूल थी अर्कमण्यता। वह कर्म करने से डरती रही, अत: नष्ट हो गयी। बूंद और जल का सम्बन्घ आत्मा-परमात्मा के सम्बन्घ के समान है। इतने बडे विश्व मे बच्चा अकेला आता है। परिवार, समाज में अन्य लोगों से ...
